Becca was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from The Ellis School and Ohio Wesleyan University, she returned to Pittsburgh to serve as a fellow and team leader with Repair the World Pittsburgh for 2 years. Currently, Becca is the Communication and Engagement Associate with 412 Food Rescue. Becca is thrilled to serve as the J’Burgh Leadership Board President and enjoys uniting young Jews in Pittsburgh! Originally from Squirrel Hill, Sam went to Penn State University where he received a B.A. in Political Science. Sam made his return to Pittsburgh in 2011, to attend the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Law, graduating in 2014. Aside from practicing law, Sam is actively involved with several organizations in the Pittsburgh Jewish community, including the Jewish Federation’s Wechsler Fellowship, J’Burgh, and Shalom Pittsburgh. Sam currently resides in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood.
Originally from the South Hills, Matt earned his B.A. in History from Kent State University in 2011. He spent the past 5 years in a variety of different roles in the Jewish Non-Profit world; having lived in Massachusetts and Indiana before moving back to Pittsburgh. Currently, he lives in Greenfield and works as an operations associate for Unicentric, a local software firm. Matt enjoys JBurgh because of its variety of fun programming and how easy it is to build a great group of friends who all happen to be Jewish and around the same age. Even though he’s from here, one of his favorite things to do on a weekend is explore the city, and is always up for trying a new restaurant or taking in a ballgame at PNC Park.
Rachelle is a Ph.D Candidate at the University of Pittsburgh and practicing occupational therapist in the Pittsburgh community. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Sciences in 2014 and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Boston University in 2017. Rachelle describes herself as energetic, a foodie, and a HUGE Wisconsin sports fan! Having been immersed in the Milwaukee, Chicago, and Boston Jewish Communities, Rachelle looks forward to creating new experiences for young adults in the Pittsburgh region.
Dani moved to Pittsburgh in September 2015 from New York City and became involved in the Jewish community right away. She graduated from the University of Maryland and spent time living in Washington, D.C. before moving to New York. She is an active member of the Pittsburgh Jewish community and has been a part of the Jewish Federation’s Weschler Program and NCJW’s Leadership Program. Dani currently lives in Shadyside and is a corporate event manager.
Alaina is from Pittsburgh, (basically) born and raised! After attending Kent State University she moved home to join Repair the World as a fellow, where she first learned about J’Burgh. After a year of service, going back to school and finally becoming a full time designer for an architectural products firm in Pittsburgh, she joined the J’Burgh Leadership Board; wanting to help people her own age get involved in Jewish community activities in Pittsburgh.
Jonathan “Yoni” Fischer originally hails from the sunny state of California but couldn’t be happier to live in the Steel City and be involved in Pittsburgh’s exciting Jewish community. Graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a Masters degree in Information Science in 2014, he has spent the last 10 years as a System Engineer and Analyst with the UPMC Cancer Centers in Shadyside. Yoni serves as the Vice-Chair of South Hills Jewish Pittsburgh (SHJP) and works to cultivate a Jewish community both in the city with J’Burgh and in the suburbs with SHJP. J’Burgh has given him the opportunity to create amazing relationships with others of the tribe and he is thrilled to be the resident DJ. You can usually find him out on the dance floor attempting to bring back the 90s.
